Case Study: Stakeholder Engagement Plan

An established non-profit organisation with a new strategic plan and a change in strategic direction engaged FPL Advisory to develop a stakeholder engagement plan to rebuild profile and awareness of the organisation.

Situation

A social change organisation that had long standing relationships with government partners developed a new strategic plan following several Board member changes and the appointment of a new CEO. FPL Advisory was engaged to undertake a review of the organisation’s current and potential partnership arrangements with the Victorian Government in line with their new strategic priorities. This assessment provided a foundation to develop a renewed program for engagement with the goal of raising the organisation’s profile and position them to expand core service delivery.

Action

FPL Advisory developed a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan that sought to introduce the non-profit’s new CEO and Board members to key stakeholders to build profile within government. With a focus on building upon their strong foundation of engagement, the plan provided a framework that enabled the non-profit to systematically reengage with key departmental and political stakeholders on key topics to ensure that the organisation was ‘front of mind’ on emerging issues in their relevant policy area while providing a space for potential partnership to deliver on their new strategic initiatives that built upon their core service delivery.

Resolution

With this approach, the organisation was able to lay down the pathway for how government could partner with them to expand their service delivery to meet the objectives of the new strategic plan. The non-profit was able to use their strategic plan as a tool to identify new partnership opportunities and build upon their strong foundation of government engagement while lifting profile with key stakeholders.
