What does the election result mean for policymaking over the next three years?

· Government Risk,Risk

With an election result that has left many in government surprised, the Coalition will now need to fill their policy agenda for the next three years. The Prime Minister has new authority in taking his party to a “miracle” win, leaving the re-elected government with a majority and firm sense of what the voters want. But in comparison to the ALP, the Coalition’s policy platform is far more limited in the number of campaign commitments, creating uncertainty as to how the government will be filling in the spaces in their policy agenda. The next few months will have heightened #governmentrisk as we wait to see whether or not the Coalition’s promises will be implemented, and what new policies will be introduced in the meantime.
